About SIES
The South Indian Education Society (SIES) is one of the oldest educational societies in Mumbai and was pioneered in 1932.There are at present 17 Institutions functioning under the SIES banner. The society strives towards excellence in all its pursuit and believes in strict disciplines. The SIES (Nerul) College of Arts, Science and Commerce (Autonomous) was established in the year 1998 as a commerce college and it’s affiliated to University of Mumbai. It is one of the reputed educational institutes in NaviMumbai and educating the students for Arts, Science and Commerce. At present 13 Undergraduate courses and 6 Postgraduate courses are being offered in addition to Junior College. The college has been re-accredited with Grade “A” by NAAC. The college received Academic and Administrative autonomy from the UGC (date 31st May 2023) and University of Mumbai in graded pattern to fulfill the goals of academic excellence and continual improvement. The college justifies freedom to design market oriented courses and syllabus to enhance students’ employability. The Institutional Autonomy covers all the programmes at UG, PG, Diploma and Ph.D affiliated to University of Mumbai. The college not only aims at creating good corporate leaders but also responsive and responsible citizens.
Department of Environmental Science
The Department of Environmental Science was established in the year 2006. The Department offers B.Sc in Environmental Science and M.Sc in Environmental Science programme which is affiliated to University of Mumbai. The objective of the programme is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute, directly or indirectly to the conservation and prudent use of natural resources for the benefit of society. This programme covers major aspects of Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Green Technology, Environmental Policies and Regulations, Instrumentation and Biostatistics, Industrial Hygiene and Chemical Safety, Ecotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology and Nanotechnology, Sustainable Management and Environmental Management. The programme promotes and develops alliances among Industry, Government, Consultancy, NGO’s and Academia to study the relationship of environmental policy to business management and operations thereby making students (*3 students stood Mumbai University topper in M.Sc. Part II Environmental Sciences) competent to sustain in the corporate world.
